Di solito non prendo positivamente un primo album che porti lo stesso nome della band che lo ha creato.. poi però guardo lo scaffale dei cd e di esempi eccellenti ce ne sono numerosi, proprio di fronte al mio naso.

Così, assolutamente per caso, mi metto ad ascoltare questo giovane gruppo americano. L'intero album passa per le cuffie mentre sto preparando le clip per un video. Il cervelletto, neanche a farlo apposta, ha già elaborato come e dove usare uno dei pezzi che ho appena sentito ed è fatta. A questo punto, come di consuetudine, fra una correzione e l'altra mi andrò a risentire lo stesso brano almeno una ventina di volte.. come non potrebbe venirmi a piacere?

L'atmosfera dell'album è calma, sognante e rilassata senza cadere in ritmi troppo lenti. Mantiene una sua struttura coerente durante l'intero progetto. Apprezzo moltissimo che dei ragazzi al primo lavoro autoprodotto abbiamo saputo raggiungere una qualità più che soddisfacente.

Un tocco di modernità con qualche escursus elettronico come in Don't look down non fanno che rafforzare la capacità di produrre pezzi non banali e magari con il prossimo album, di ricerca.

I usually don’t take into serious consideration a first album which has the same name as the band who created it.. but then I look at the cd-shelf and I can see many excellent examples, exactly in front of my nose.

So, completely by accident, I start listening to this young American group. The whole album passes through my headphones while I’m editing some clips for a video. Unconsciously my brain has already decided where and how to use one of the song I’ve just heard. And this is how is done: for preparing my video, between one correction and the other, I’m gonna hear the same song at least twenty times… how can I not start enjoing it!

The atmosphere of the album is calm, dreamy and relaxed, without becoming too slow. The album maintain a consistent structure throughout the project. I really appreciate that some guys at their first self-produced work have been able to reach such a satisfying quality.

A touch of modernity with some electronic excursus, as in “Don’t look down”, reinforce the ability to produce songs which are never trivial and let me hope for some more “research-songs” in the next album(s).
